David is Chief Investment Officer and oversees Blackstar’s portfolio management activities. Prior to founding the firm, David was the chief investment officer for a Swiss-based family office. David has worked across all asset classes and has been central to outlining and implementing investment strategy, including manager research for private equity, hedge funds and long only funds across all listed markets. He also worked as an investment adviser for Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management where he specialized in providing investment advice to UK and Irish private clients, charities and pension schemes.
David was educated at University College Dublin, where he received his BBL Honoursin Business & Law
Mark is COO at BSAM and manages both corporate and fund related operational activities.
Mark has 25 years financial services experience in particular with regards to advising on governance, operational due diligence and structuring to attract and support institutional investors across all asset classes.
Mark has worked in senior roles in Aon’s Investment team within Operational Due Diligence, as a Director in the Risk, Structuring and Operations team with AXA Investment Managers and as Deputy Head of Cayman National Fund Services in the Cayman Islands with oversight of assets in excess of $1.5 trillion.
Mark is a member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants In Ireland (FCA).
Morgan is a Portfolio Manager of BSAM and serves on the Credit Committee and Board of Directors. Previously, Morgan was chief operating officer of Kimura Capital – a commodity trade finance fund. He has more than 25 years’ experience in financial markets, holding senior positions in corporate hedging, structuring, investment products, proprietary trading and risk management. Prior to that, Morgan worked in commodity derivatives at Morgan Stanley and was head of commodity structuring at UBS where he led the team responsible for development and distribution of commodity investor products.
Morgan completed a Masters of Science degree in Finance at London Business School and holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Hertfordshire.
Vincent has over fifteen years’ experience working on structured finance desks at investment banks in London. He has structured, executed and managed multi-million-pound transactions in jurisdictions across Europe, backed by a wide variety of asset classes.
Prior to joining BSAM, Vincent spent eight years as a Portfolio Manager at NatWest Markets. His role was initially to identify, analyse and provide recommendations for facilities inherited from a recent acquisition of the bank. He then restructured and/or unwound those exposures to improve the bank’s capital position and meet its strategic objectives. More recently, he was responsible for helping to build and manage a book of challenger ABS originator clients via warehousing facilities with ultimate capital market exits.
Vincent hold a Bachelor of Applied Economics (Hons) and Diploma in Finance, both from Massey University, New Zealand.
Mark is a director of BSAM and founder of the Blackstar Group. He is responsible for fund advisory and deal structuring elements of the business. Mark is a member of the BSAM Investment Committee. Mark has 20 years’ experience in the financial industry executing trades in multiple asset classes, hedging asset portfolios and originating structured solutions for proprietary positions with Nomura Asset Management, Vantage Capital Markets and Melli Bank. Mark entered the commodity and commodity trade finance markets in 2007 initially in a financing, structuring and origination capacity.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Economics from the University of Otago, New Zealand.
Frances is head of structuring and is a highly experienced structured trade financier with a comprehensive knowledge of and extensive practical experience within the international trade sector. Frances’ expertise encompasses traditional trade finance, factoring and forfaiting in the export markets. This experience is complemented by a strong legal background and 25 years’ exposure to the international banking and finance markets. She has held senior positions with UK-based firms London Forfeiting Company, BCI SoditicTrade Finance Company, Fairfax Gerrard and Trade Finance Partners Limited, latterly as Structured Finance Director.
Frances holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Exeter
Andy is responsible for credit and creating investible asset structures. Prior to joining Blackstar, Andy worked to establish an asset-backed peer-to-peer lending platform as well as advising a trade finance fund on a securitization structure. Before that, Andy worked in bond syndication at Mizuho and RBC and structured several innovative deals for borrowers and took the lead role in working with regulators during the Global Financial Crisis. His role at those banks was to advise governments, corporates and financials on strategic borrowing on both a secured and an unsecured basis. Andy began his career at Citibank working on providing short-term debt, with a particular focus on ABS structures.
Andy holds an MA(Hons) in Law from Downing College, University of Cambridge.
Sudeb Sarbadhikary has more than 20 years of work experience in the Financial Services and Banking Industry. Having worked for a wide range of leading finance organisations, including HSBC, ABN Amro Bank & WestLB. His work has primarily been concentrated in the emerging markets of India and the Middle East. From 2010 to 2014 Sudeb he was responsible for successfully establishing a startup and growing a Non-Banking Finance Company in India, a joint-venture with Punjab National Bank (one of the largest public sector banks in the country). As CEO of India Factoring and Finance Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (IFFL), he was responsible for establishing the company, laying down basic procedures and subsequently developing the business. He was instrumental in building an asset portfolio of approximately INR 10bn spread over 300 clients. The company was to prove profitable from its first full year of operation and was to be backed with a credit rating of ‘A1’ by ICRA on a standalone basis.
Shantnu is an Investment Analyst at Blackstar Asset Management. He assists in the performance analysis and ongoing monitoring of existing investments and assists with the operational side of the business.
